## What Claude Buddy is

Claude Buddy (also written as `/buddy`) is a built-in pet simulator that ships with [Claude Code](https://docs.anthropic.com/claude/docs/claude-code), Anthropic's command-line coding assistant. Each Claude Code installation gets a deterministic pet derived from the user's account UUID + a salt, hashed via FNV-1a, and rendered as ASCII art in the terminal. There are 18 species (Duck, Cat, Dragon, Octopus, Owl, Penguin, Turtle, Capybara, Axolotl, Robot, Ghost, Snail, Goose, Blob, Cactus, Rabbit, Mushroom, Chonk) across 5 rarity tiers (common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary), with optional shiny variants and 8 hat types.
