Step-by-Step
Check your Claude Code version
Run claude --version in your terminal. Make sure it shows v2.1.89 or higher.
$ claude --versionConfirm Pro subscription
You need a Claude Pro subscription ($20/mo). Free accounts cannot access /buddy.
Type /buddy
Type /buddy in your Claude Code terminal.
$ /buddyWait for hatching
Claude will generate a unique name and personality for your buddy. This takes a few seconds.
Meet your buddy!
Your buddy appears! It shows as ASCII art in the terminal. Use /buddy pet to interact, or /buddy card for full details.
Tips
Your buddy is deterministic — generated from your account UUID, it never changes. To preview your result, use our online checker.
