Attributes & Stats
Every Capybara has 5 stats: DEBUGGING, PATIENCE, CHAOS, WISDOM, and SNARK. The value range depends on rarity tier — higher rarity means higher stat floors. The system randomly assigns one stat as "peak" (+50 bonus) and one as "dump" (lower), with the other three getting a base plus random offset.

Appearance Variants
Capybara's appearance is determined by three factors: eye style, hat (non-Common only), and shiny effect (1% chance).

Common tier always has no hat. Uncommon and above get one of 8 hat types randomly.
Shiny Effect
Every buddy has a 1% chance of being Shiny. Shiny buddies get +6 to all stats and a slightly different visual effect. Shiny is a bonus Easter egg — it does not affect species or rarity assignment.
How to Get Capybara
Your Claude Buddy species is deterministically assigned by your account UUID. Type /buddy in the Claude Code CLI to see your pet. All 18 species have equal assignment probability (1/18 = 5.56%), so the chance of getting Capybara is the same as any other species.
If you didn't get the species you wanted, you can use the /reroll command to re-roll. Re-rolling generates a completely new buddy from a fresh seed, including new species, rarity, and stats.
