Shiny buddies have a 1% chance independent of rarity. A Shiny Legendary is 1 in 10,000. Learn how the shiny system works.
What Is a Shiny Buddy?
Shiny is a visual variant independent of rarity. Every buddy has a 1% chance of being shiny at generation time. The shiny effect is a golden shimmer displayed with a special marker in the ASCII art.
Importantly, the shiny chance is completely independent of rarity. A Common buddy can be shiny, and a Legendary can be shiny too.
Shiny Stat Bonus
Shiny buddies gain +6 on all stats, clamped to the 1-100 range. Values above 100 stay at 100, and values below 1 are raised to 1.

This +6 stacks with any rarity tier. For example, a Legendary floor of 50 becomes an effective floor of 56 when the buddy is shiny.

How to Spot a Shiny
- In Claude Code terminal output, you will see an explicit ✨ SHINY ✨ marker.
- In the checker result card, a shiny badge is displayed.
- Visually, shiny buddies have a golden shimmer and sparkle overlay distinct from normal variants.
